Social Media Consultant!

To answer the question Who is a Social Media Consultant, we need to understand the Social Media.

For beginners, Social media is the use of electronic and Internet tools for the purpose of sharing and discussing information and experiences with other human beings.

Social media or social networking (one example of social media) have a number of characteristics that make them fundamentally different from traditional media such as newspapers, television, books, and radio. Primarily, social media depend on interactions between people as the discussion and integration of words build shared-meaning, using technology as a conduit.

In the wider perpective, we all know that Newspaper and magazine sales are down and advertising revenue is, therefore, down. On the other hand, online readership and revenue is up.

People are interacting more with each other on social networking sites like Digg, Stumble Upon, Twitter and scores of other sites.

What does it mean for online Businesses?

It means that there is a change happening in the way we all are inter-acting & our behaviour is changing. We all follow the herd. We read reviews by others and then make up our mind. If something has become popular, all of us want to go & see what the fuss is all about. Say for example Facebook. Everyone wants to be on it.

For any media outlet to survive, they need to recognise this change. "They need to follow the eyeballs. That means you have embrace and learn things quickly and incorporate them into your advertising budgets.

We all know, getting on to the homepage of Digg can get you scores of traffic and back-links as many bloggers look for stories on Digg or Stumble Upon and link back to them. This gets you lots of traffic and therefore, advertising revenue.

For online advertising media, the sale of advertising depends on the number of people coming to visit their website and the number of page-views that they are getting. More your online readership, the more the value of getting your advert on those pages and capturing those eyeballs.

Advertising companies will pay fortunes to those getting the most eyeballs.

So who is a Social Media Consultant?

A social media consultant will be the that will facilitate the above and much more. He would be the one who will facilitate your organisation's campaign to reflect these changes. He will try to drive traffic to get those eyeballs, make a reutation and make things go viral.

How does a Social Media Consultant does all the above?

* First things first - He will analyze your "digital footprint". How is your website presented, what online campaigns have taken place, what has been the ROI (Return On Investment).

* Plan the way forward - After analysis, he will have to plan a way forward for your organizational needs, depending on your budget.

* He can teach you how to write a blog, how to present materail in such a way as to make it interesting to online readers and optimise it.

* Seminars, training (in-house or online) etc can be given to explain to your organization.

Why does my organization Need a Social Media Consultant?

* I am sure you have noticed that the world is changing and customers behaviours with it. Customers are embracing the online world at a rapid pace. And as businesses need to reach customers, businesses now need to go beyond the “online business card” website, and need to actively take part in the conversation that surrounds their brand, since it will go on with or without them.

Social media tools can help them find ways to reach communities and cut through the constant advertising noise in a more personal and friendly way, while remaining extremely cost-effective.

* To optimise the brand creation and marketing.

* To manage online Brand Recognition and online reputation management.
